There was a pre-9/11 world and a post-9/11 world. And there’s a pre-COVID world and a post-COVID world. People born after 9/11 and *into* the post-9/11 world don’t really understand this, for obvious reasons: but people who lived in the pre-9/11 world and lived through the transition are more likely to understand the differences – and the normalisation of those differences.
