“President Trump has been anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon…”
Events unfolding in the Middle East are not simply a geo-political enterprise. It’s a Holy War.
A report from inside US military circles during the onset of ‘Operation Epic Fury‘ have further exposed this underlying reality. But I’ll come to that in a moment.
In Monday’s post on the US/Israeli war in Iran, I mentioned both the ‘purim’ festival and the enactment of broader Biblical prophecy being significant elements in this illegal war of aggression.
The ‘purim’ aspect refers to the Jewish commemoration of a historic massacre of Persians to protect Jews from annihilation.
As I noted, ‘purim’ this year fell on March 2nd/3rd – and Benjamin Netanyahu referenced it in his first address regarding the attack on Iran, declaring: ‘Twenty five hundred years ago, in ancient Persia, a tyrant rose against us with the very same goal, to utterly destroy our people. Today as well, on Purim, the lot has fallen, and in the end this evil regime will fall too…’
In other words, the timing of the attack on Iran was designed to be an enactment of a Biblical story central to Israeli identity.
I also noted how the Iran situation has been consistently portrayed in the context of End Times prophecy and the mythical ‘Gog and Magog’ conflict. Some of the people orchestrating this conflict, in other words, are obsessed with Biblical fulfilment and are driven by religious mania.
The entire Zionist programme, both from the Jewish religious perspective and the Christian evangelical perspective, is likewise framed in extremist End Times theology, as I have pointed out here for years.
See here, for example.
In terms of this current war on Iran, let’s expand on this further.
Military commanders in the US are ‘describing the Iran campaign as divinely ordained and tied to the Book of Revelations‘: according to a report in the wake of the US/Israeli attacks.
An insider’s account describes “the unrestricted euphoria” of commanders who are seeing the war as “biblically-sanctioned” and a precursor to the imminent End Times.
As first published at The Cradle, it was ‘reported on 2 March that numerous US service members have lodged dozens of complaints saying senior officers are calling the war on Iran part of “God’s divine plan,” with claims that US President Donald Trump was “anointed by Jesus” to spark Armageddon…’
Note: he wasn’t ‘anointed by Jesus’, but by the Rabbis in July 2024, during the bloodied ear ritual.
But the unsettling report continues: ‘…“President Trump has been anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth,” one combat-unit commander allegedly told troops during a readiness briefing, according to a complaint submitted to the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF).’
More than 100 similar complaints were reportedly recorded in a 48 hour period, ‘spanning over 40 units across at least 30 military installations‘.
This isn’t normal behaviour in the US military.
The officer who blew the whistle said in an email to an independent journalist ‘that such rhetoric “destroy[s] morale and unit cohesion and [is] in violation of the oaths we swore to support the Constitution”…’
None of this should be particularly surprising: but it is a disturbing insight into the demented mindset and ideology present in the war movement.
While the religious zeal in Israel is well understood, the apparent spread of religious extremism in part of the US military seems to be a relatively new scenario tied specifically to the current Trump administration.
Again, this has become increasingly evident in recent months: from the 1,000 pastors who recently went to pledge allegiance to Israel at the Temple Mount to Mike Huckabee telling a stunned Tucker Carlson that Israel has the “Biblical right” to seize land from other countries to fulfil the Greater Israel vision.
Trump’s mentally unhinged Secretary of Defense (sorry, ‘Secretary of WAR’) Pete Hegseth is himself openly cosplaying as a modern Christian ‘Crusader’ Knight. These people are completely out of the closet at this stage.
And, sure enough, Hegseth has 2 Crusader tattoos: a Jerusalem Cross, the symbol of the Crusader kingdom of Jerusalem on his chest, & “Deus Vult” the Crusaders’ theological cri de coeur (“God wills it”) on his bicep.

It isn’t people like me calling this a Holy War – it’s the people waging the war. The Israelis and the Trump administration are essentially engaged in a jihad.
I want to refer here again to the same Baptist News article I referenced on Monday, concerning the prefabricated role of Iran as the scripted villain in Biblical prophecy fulfilment, because it lays it out very well.
Again, as the article explains: ‘This slow movement of Iran from the periphery of prophecy to central figure culminated in the work of Mark Hitchcock, who presents Iran as a central figure in end-times apocalyptic prophecy in several books, including ‘Iran: The Coming Crisis’, ‘The Apocalypse of Ahmadinejad, Iran and Israel’, and ‘Showdown with Iran’… ‘Iran and Israel’ begins with an extended passage from Yaakov Katz and Yoaz Hendel’s 2012 book ‘Israel vs. Iran: The Shadow War’ imagining Israel launching a preemptive strike against Iran to prevent them from obtaining nuclear weapons. Hitchcock writes: “One thing is clear. If Israel launches a preemptive strike against Iran’s nuclear sites, things will never be the same… The attack will trigger a cascade of events that could bring strong retaliation from Iran. … Such a war could spark a wider regional conflict, with Iran attacking American forces…’
It continues, ‘Some fear that an Israeli preemptive assault could even start World War III… Hitchcock envisions the conflict stemming from Israel’s preemptive assault will lead to the so-called War of Gog and Magog in Ezekiel 38’… He then asks a key question: “But is it possible that these events are part of a larger drama scripted long ago?”
The irony is that the Ayatollah and the Islamic Revolution in Iran are (rightly) portrayed as fundamentalists driven by religious zeal: but the very forces attacking them are likewise being driven by a startling prophetic obsession.
The Islamic regime’s own belief in divine purpose and End Times conflict – often mocked by Western voices – is really no different to the religious delusions now present in the Israeli and US forces and their war of aggression.
I’ve often wondered in fact if the Islamic Revolution in Iran was deliberately enabled from the outside for the very purposes of manufacturing a desired adversary for a ‘Holy War’ and an End Times enactment. But that’s a complex subject I’ll explore in a different article.
But Western commentators have for years tended to make fun of religious zealots in the Muslim world, with their backward mindsets and their silly ‘jihads’ and holy wars. Maybe they should’ve been looking equally at their Zionist friends in Israel: and at the evangelical mania that’s captured American power.

This then isn’t only a corrupt geo-political conflict, but an actual Holy War – and wholly viewed as such by the key elements on both sides of the conflict. It’s reasonable to assume the regime loyalists in Iran see it in those terms too, especially after the ‘martyrdom’ of the Ayatollah.
This all must also be a wet dream for people like Steve Bannon and Michael Flynn, who’ve been championing the Clash of Civilisations programming for years now and constantly pushing for the new ‘Judeo-Christian’ crusade against the barbarians in the East.
The Wars of Religion were meant to be a thing of the past. But they’re clearly not. What’s happening now is really Steve Bannon‘s vision come to life. ‘If you look back at the long history of the Judeo-Christian West struggle against Islam, I believe that our forefathers kept their stance, and I think they did the right thing. I think they kept it out of the world……we’re in a war. We’re clearly going into, I think, a major shooting war in the Middle East again,’ he enthused back in 2015.
He must be very happy with how things are going. Maybe not as happy as Netanyahu. The most fanatical among the Iranian regime’s loyalists might even be happy with this conflict, as it validates their own religious convictions and expectations for civilizational struggle.
But putting aside all the other bullshit concerning this war or the Iran issue in general, the fact that both Trump and Marco Rubio are still talking about how ‘Iran is run by lunatics, religious fanatic lunatics‘ is becoming an increasingly hollow statement.
I’ll end here for now with an excerpt from an article I wrote in 2014, titled ‘The End-Times Deception: Babylon, the Coming Messiah, the Masonic Temple & Forced Prophecy‘. I wrote then, ‘The point is that – from Masons and Crusaders and Zionists to evangelicals, and even scores of ordinary people – millions are obsessed with the manufacturing of the Biblical End of Days, the coming of the Messiah, and the Second Coming of Christ…’
‘And the lengths they might go to bring it about – invasions, proxy wars, violations of international law, etc – are scary. It’s a stage-play: being performed in the Middle East, but with real victims and consequences…’
